Mrs. Wanda Sue Gainous Hand, 70, passed away Thursday, May 22, 2020, after an extended illness. Mrs. Hand was born in May 1950. She is proceeded in death by her parents, Glenn and Dorthy Gainous; a sister, Shirley Hires; and a brother, Wade Gainous. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Phillip M. Hand; a brother, Glenn Gainous Jr., daughter; Shannon Smith (Donnie); two sons, Michael Hand (Lynn) and Ken Hand (Pam); 12 grandchildren, Jenny, Jay, Joey, Courtney, Shawn, Harley, Addy, Alea, Lacey, Jesse, Anthony, and Autumn; six great-grandchildren, Walker, Waylon, Serenity, Harmony, Blair, and Karson; aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. The Hands have been married for 48 years. They have been residents of Brantley County for 32 years. Mrs. Hand retired after 21 years of ownership of H & H Bargain Center located in Waycross, where she truly enjoyed her customers. She was a member of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, in Brunswick. Mrs. Hand enjoyed her family and friends, with love for each and every one of them. She loved dancing and was said to have “Happy Feet.” Mrs. Hand also enjoyed playing cards, bingo, fishing, and traveling. Her love for her family and always a happy smile will surely be missed. A Memorial Service will be held today (Wednesday, May 27, 2020) at 10 a.m., at St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 405 Howe St, Brunswick.
