Sheriff urges safety for residents wanting to ride golf carts and ATVS

Staff Report HOBOKEN — A late-night accident Saturday involving a golf cart and a vehicle killed two people and injured a third. Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis confirmed Monday morning the occupants of the golf cart were Elmo Hilton, 46, and Theresa Hilton, age unavailable, died in the accident around midnight, Saturday, June 20. The driver of the vehicle was identified as John Chesser. The Georgia State Patrol is in charge of the accident and also confirmed the deaths. GSP still does not have the accident report in its system as of 9 a.m., Tuesday morning (June 23). Sheriff Davis stated the accident was northeast of Hoboken on Raybon Road. “The golf cart had no lights on it when the crash occurred,” said the sheriff.
