Brantley dive team recovers body of Florida man

The body of a Jacksonville, Fla., man was recovered Sunday afternoon after he failed to surface a day earlier from a swimming outing with friends.
The incident occurred at Moccasin Creek Off-Road Park bordering the Brantley County-Pierce County line covering 500 acres and eight miles of maintained trails. The man’s identity has not been released.

The City of Nahunta’s governing authority made some crucial financial decisions during a FY21 budget work session. Council members set the tentative millage rate at 11.75 mills in the Friday, May 15 work session.
The 1 mill increase is the first in 12 years for the city.

A registered sex offender was arrested after a near five-hour standoff with law enforcement following an incident Thursday afternoon.
Brantley County Sheriff Len Davis said the intense standoff, which started at approximately 4 p.m., ended around 8:30 p.m. after the man was shot with “less-lethal” bean bag projectiles.
