BAXLEY — Jake Dillon Smith, age 19, of Baxley, died Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Augusta University Medical Center. Smith was born March 20, 2001, in Appling County and was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church. He was a welder at JAC Industrial Maintenance. Smith was preceded in death by his grandparents, Brenda Madan and Ronnie Brooker; great-grandparents, Joe Smith, Sr., Bonnie Beecher, Jake Beecher; and aunt, Liana Sutton. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Christine and Michael Meyer of Nahunta; father and stepmother, Joe and Christian Smith of Baxley; sisters, Kaylee Smith and Antwon Jackson, Payton Smith and Colby Sellers all of Baxley, Harley and Lindsey Thompson of Jacksonville, Fla., Brooke Hallman of Baxley and Molly (Brock) Oliver of Nahunta; brothers, Cody Hallman of Baxley and Morgan Meyer of Nahunta; grandparents, Andy and Carolyn Smith, and Lisa Beecher Sutton and Steve Sutton all of Baxley; great-grandmother, Nola Smith of Baxley; nephew, Tucker Hallman; nieces, Bristol Jackson, Sutton Sellers, Brynlei Hallman, Preslee Mikell, and Reese Oliver; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins also survive. A graveside service was held Tuesday, September 8, 2020, at Red Oak Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Ron Ross, Rev. Brian Brazzell, and Rev. Robbie Gill officiating. Active Pallbearers were Hunter Trantham, Ulisse Rubio, Mason Collins, Triston Embry, Tyler Jones, Ethan Johnson, Chase Lane, and Austin Castille. Honorary Pallbearers will be all in attendants. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
