Intermittent showers of rain didn’t derail residents from voting in Tuesday’s General Primary election, but a computer glitch slowed the counting process after the polls closed at 7 p.m.
There were 1,615 ballots cast election day at the three precincts — the Senior Center in Nahunta, the Community Center in Hoboken, and Waynesville Baptist Church. All total, there were 4,108 votes. The three-week early voting period total was 1,175 ballots while absentee ballots numbered 1,071.
Final results were not released until nearly 10 p.m., some three hours after the polls were supposed to close. A computer glitch held up the release of numbers.
