HOBOKEN — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is not releasing much information about a body being found New Year’s Day in western Brantley County.
It is believed the human remains found near Big Creek Bridge were of a female and that of 45- year-old Christie Henderson Cox, was last seen Friday, December 11 near Hoboken and reported missing two days later.
“The body was located Thursday (December 31) and we’re about 100 percent sure it was her,” said Davis.
The sheriff said he believes someone traveling Central Avenue may have spotted something from the road.
“We were already looking in that area,” said Davis, “and the person(s) came across some deputies and reported seeing something.”
GBI agent Richard Dial, of the Kingsland GBI Office, confirmed Monday, January 4 there were human remains found in a wooded area off Central Avenue in Brantley County, but that the identity has not been established by the GBI. Agent Dial said the body was found by a private citizen on the afternoon of Thursday, December 31. He would not say if the body was out in the open or was in any way hidden. “That’s part of the investigation and I can’t get into that,” Agent Dial said.
