The City of Nahunta’s governing authority made some crucial financial decisions during a FY21 budget work session. Council members set the tentative millage rate at 11.75 mills in the Friday, May 15 work session.
The 1 mill increase is the first in 12 years for the city.
Discussion of 2 mills during the 2 ½-hour meeting was quickly turned by veteran council members Richard Johns and Crystal Johns. Both wanted a fair tax (penny sales tax) that would encompass everyone.
