WAYCROSS — Mr. Charles Edward Caviness, Sr., 73, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2020, at his residence in Waycross following an extended illness. Caviness was born in Hushpuckena, Miss., to the late Elmer Oscar Caviness, Sr. and Virginia Alice Cochran Caviness. He was a truck driver for 42 years and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, Caviness was also preceded in death by his wife, Vera Agnes Luke Caviness; two sons, Charles Edward Caviness, Jr. and Lonnie Oscar Caviness; and two sisters, Martha Jo Brown and Debbie Caviness Coursey. Caviness is survived by six children, Connie Lee (Donald) of Waycross, James Caviness, Sr. of Hoboken, Wesley A. Caviness of Jacksonville, Fla., Belinda Hill-Cain (Ricky) of Southaven, Miss., Faye Anderson (Herbert) of Memphis, Tenn., and Danny Weatherford of Memphis, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; four siblings, Bubba Caviness (Donna) of Waycross, Bobby Caviness (Bonnie) of Greenville, Miss., Jimmy Caviness (Deborah) of Muskegon, Mich., and Brenda Smith of Greenville, Miss.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorialization will be by cremation. Music Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
