GRAY, Ga. — Calvin Wayne Miller, Sr., 69, of Gray, died Sunday, September 13, 2020. Miller was born June 10, 1951, in Douglas and had lived in Gray for the past nine years. He was the son of the late Henry Milton Miller and Lois Rhoden Miller. Miller was a devout Christian and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church where he served as an elder and taught Sunday school. Miller was a boilermaker by trade for the Boilermaker’s Union, Local #26 of Savannah. He was preceded in death by a brother, Framan “Frog” Miller. Miller is survived by his sons, Calvin Wayne Miller, Jr. (Emily), Kevin Mathew Miller, and Kartley Morris (JoAnna); a daughter, Cassy Marie Miller; grandchildren, Avery Miller, Mary Evelyn Miller, Kullen Morris, Madison Morris, and Willow Morris; a brother, Henry Milton Miller, Jr. (Penny); and a nephew, Chris Miller. A graveside funeral service was held Wednesday, September 16, 2020, at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Jones County. Rev. Eddie Windham and Deacon Scott Hudson officiated. In lieu of flowers, Mr. Miller asked that contributions be made to New Salem Baptist Church, 183 Salem Church-Miller Road, Gray, Georgia 31032, or to Heartland Hospice of Augusta, 153 Davis Road, Augusta, Georgia 30907. Gray Memorial Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
