The body of a Jacksonville, Fla., man was recovered Sunday afternoon after he failed to surface a day earlier from a swimming outing with friends.
The incident occurred at Moccasin Creek Off-Road Park bordering the Brantley County-Pierce County line covering 500 acres and eight miles of maintained trails. The man’s identity has not been released. The recovery operation ended Sunday (May 24) around 4:30 p.m., when the man was located by the Brantley County dive team.
The body was recovered with the assistance of the Wayne County dive team.
Sgt. Mark Carson, of the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Law Enforcement Coastal Division said the victim swam across the Satilla River from the Moccasin Creek ATV Park.
