Lady Herons go 1-2 in final week; BCHS to face PCHS in region semis

Brantley County’s Lady Herons tennis team wrapped up their regular with three non-region matches which included Senior Day.
BCHS (6-11) opened the week Monday, March 29 falling 7-0 in Jacksonville, Fla., to Stanton College Prep (13-1). The Lady Blue Devils’ only loss is to The Bolles School.
The Lady Herons dropped a 4-1 home decision Wednesday, March 31 on Senior Day to Fernandina Beach High School. The tennis program recognized Sydnie Strickland, Alexis Rowell, and Jane Jones. Easton Cummings, who is leaving at the end of the year, was also honored.
Brantley County ended a five-match skid Thursday, April 1 blanking home-standing Wayne County 5-0. BCHS also beat the Lady Yellow Jackets 5-0 in the Golden Isles Invitational back on March 20.
The Lady Herons, who finished third in the Region 1-AAA standings, face second-seed Pierce County at the region tournament Wednesday, April 14 in Baxley.
The winner advances to face the winner of tournament host and top-seed Appling County and fourth-seed Tattnall County.
The losers will face off in a consolation match.
The first round of the Class AAA state tournament has to be played by Tuesday, April 20.
