Lady Herons travel to Oconee County, Herons host GAC in quarterfinals
CANEY BAY — Brantley County’s tennis programs earned berth’s to the Class AAA “Elite 8” with second-round wins.
The Region 1 third-seed Lady Herons followed up a first-round 4-0 road win over Region 4 runner-up Burke County in Waynesboro with a 4-0 road win over Region 2 champion Mary Persons in Forsyth.
Brantley County traveled Tuesday to Watkinsville to face Region 8 champion Oconee County. The Lady Warriors, who had a first-round bye, beat Region 7 third-seed Gilmer 3-0 in the second round.
The region champion Herons, who blanked Region 4 fourth-seed Burke County 3-0 in the first round, won by the same score against visiting Region 3 runner-up Savannah Arts in Round 2.
Brantley County will host Region 5 runner-up Greater Atlanta Christian today (Wednesday, April 28) in the quarterfinals.
GAC beat Region 8 third seed Stephens County 5-0 and Region 7 champion Cherokee Bluff 3-0 in the first two rounds.
