NAHUNTA — Barry Colin Wainright, 73 of Nahunta, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020 at Landmark Hospital in Savannah following an extended illness. Born in Folkston, his parents were the late Woodrow and Mary Elizabeth “Lee” Wainright. Wainright retired from Gilman Paper Company in St. Mary’s and served in the United States Army and was a Vietnam veteran. He loved reading, hunting, and spending time with family. Survivors include his two sons, Dezi Wainright of Macon, and Shay Wainright of Raleigh, N.C.; one daughter, Rita Wainright, also of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers and their spouses, Charles Devant Wainright (Vickie) of Hickox, and Rudolph Wainright (Sinie), also of Hickox; one sister and her spouse, Rebecca Barton (Ronnie) of Aiken, S.C.; also, several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and a host of friends. Due to COVD-19, the family held a private graveside service Monday, April 6, 2020 at Bethlehem Cemetery. Pallbearers were Trent Wainright, Corey Wainright, Heath Wainright, Troy Wainright, Leon Thrift and Ronnie Barton. Arrangements were with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
